UIB Presents: Founders Week and Wildcat Wahoo

Hannah Kitchen // Wildcat Wahoo 2016

As the year begins to close out, and the weather starts to get warmer, JWU students are ready for the summer. With summer getting closer by the day, it’s about time again for JWU’s annual Founders Week and Wildcat Wahoo. When speaking with UIB member Matt Spalding about this year’s events for Wahoo he said “So for this year we are doing something different for entertainment. Instead of one musical performer, we will have multiple smaller performances. The highlight of the show will feature an acrobatic team: The Chicago Boyz. They have been on America’s Got Talent and have performed for sporting event halftime shows. There will also be a DJ and some small performances from on campus organizations.”

Along with Wildcat Wahoo comes Founders Week.  This year’s events are as follows:

Monday, May 1st: Beach Bingo in the Wildcat Center Lounge at 8pm.

Tuesday, May 2nd: RePercussion in Schneider Auditorium at 8pm (RePercussion is a comedy drumming team similar to Blue Man Group.)

Wednesday, May 3rd: Spa Day in the Wildcat Center Lounge from 11am-3pm; Why Words Matter at The BRIDGE Center 5:30pm

Thursday, May 4th: Movie Premiere of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 at Providence Place Cinemas at 10pm. (Tickets can be purchased from CBCSI Downcity or the Harborside Wildcat Center Lounge office for $5.)

Friday, May 5th: Battle of the Campus from 9am-1pm at the Scotts Miracle Gro Athletic Complex followed by Wahoo 5k and an after party starting at 9pm on the Harborside Greenspace.

Saturday, May 6th: Annual Wildcat Wahoo Carnival from 1pm-7pm in F lot. Free for JWU students, $15 for guests. Rides, food, games, entertainment, etc.

When asked about his time within UIB, Matt went on to say “I have enjoyed my experience a lot. Being part of UIB and the Wahoo committee and being able to plan the biggest event on campus that everybody looks forward to attending is truly special. It’s exciting to see all of our hard work pay off. We have an awesome team this year.”
